Introduction

Vrindavan has more than five thousand temples. You will visit six, maybe eight, and the difference between a good trip and a wasted one is whether you know what time each of them opens.

That sounds dramatic until you have watched it. A family reaches Banke Bihari at eight in the morning in December, having read somewhere that it opens at 7:45. In December it opens at 8:45. They wait an hour on a cold street with two children and a grandmother, and by the time they get in, the peace they came for has already gone.

I am Gurudutt. I was born in Braj Bhoomi and I have guided pilgrims through Vrindavan since 2018, more than 50,000 of them. Every timing on this page is what my team works with on the ground, cross checked against multiple sources.

Where sources genuinely disagree, and for Rangji they do, I say so rather than pick one and pretend it is settled. For the other town, our Mathura temple timings guide covers Krishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadhish and the rest.

Vrindavan Temple Timings 2026
Vrindavan Temple Timings 2026

Banke Bihari Temple (Bihari Ji Mandir) Timings

The most visited temple in Vrindavan, and the one with the timing that catches the most people out.

Summer (March to October) Winter (November to February)
Morning darshan 7:45 AM to 12:00 PM 8:45 AM to 1:00 PM
Evening darshan 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Entry Free Free

Read the winter row again. Banke Bihari opens a full hour later in winter and closes a full hour earlier in the evening. Almost every article on the internet quotes only the summer timing. If you arrive in December at 7:45 AM you will stand outside for an hour.

There is no Mangala Aarti here, and this surprises people. The tradition holds that Bihari Ji wakes late, so the temple opens later than any other major shrine in Vrindavan. There are no bells and no conch shells either. And there is no continuous darshan. A curtain is drawn across the deity and opened again every few minutes, a practice called jhanki, because the belief is that unbroken eye contact with that gaze would overwhelm a devotee.

Photography inside is prohibited and enforced, and the dress code is checked at the gate. The full rules for Banke Bihari darshan are worth five minutes before you travel. And nobody sells an official VIP pass on the street, whatever they tell you. What is actually possible is set out on our Banke Bihari darshan and passes page.

Radha Raman Mandir Timings

The most underrated temple in Vrindavan, and my own favourite.

  Timing
Morning darshan 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Evening darshan 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Shringar Darshan 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM
Mangala Aarti About 4:00 AM in winter, earlier in summer
Entry Free
Distance from Banke Bihari 300 metres, five minute walk

Established in 1542 by Gopala Bhatta Goswami. The deity is self manifested, meaning it was never carved, and the same idol has been worshipped continuously for close to five centuries. Unlike almost every other historic temple in Braj, it never had to be replaced or hidden from invasion.

The Shringar Darshan between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM is the reason to come. The priests dress the deity in fresh clothing while devotees stand a few metres away. In a small temple at that hour, the access is closer and more personal than anything you will experience at Banke Bihari.

Watch the light at the entrance. Green means darshan is open. Red means the sanctum has closed briefly for ritual. It changes several times through the morning, and visitors who do not know this often turn around and leave, thinking the temple is shut. It is not. Wait four minutes.

More detail sits in our Radha Raman Temple aarti timings guide.

Nidhivan Timings and the Sunset Rule

  Timing
Opens About 6:00 AM
Closes Strictly before sunset
After dark Nobody is permitted inside. No exceptions
Best time to visit 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Entry Free

Sixteen thousand trees, hollow and twisted, each believed to be a gopi who joined Krishna’s Raas Leela. This is where Swami Haridas sang the bhajan through which the Banke Bihari deity is said to have appeared.

The sunset rule is the whole story of Nidhivan. Temple authorities close the grove before dark and clear everyone out, and the belief that Krishna performs the Raas Leela here at night is taken entirely seriously by the priests who lock the gate. Whatever you personally believe, the rule is enforced daily and there is no negotiating it.

Visitors who arrive after lunch routinely find the gate shut, having built their whole afternoon around it. Go in the morning. And keep your bag closed while you are there, because the monkeys in these lanes are quick and they target glasses, phones and food packets specifically.

Char Dham Mandir Vrindavan Timings

First, the confusion, because thousands of people search this term every month and land on the wrong page.

There are two different things in Vrindavan that get called Char Dham.

The Char Dham Temple on Chhatikara Road is a single large complex that recreates all four of India’s original Dhams, Badrinath, Dwarka, Jagannath Puri and Rameshwaram, in one campus. You walk through four sections, each built in the architectural style of the original. This is what most people mean, and it is what the timings below refer to.

Vrindavan’s four dhams is a different, looser phrase that some websites use for four separate modern temples: Shiv Dham, Shani Dham, Krishna Radha Dham and Vaishno Devi Dham. These are four distinct buildings in different parts of town, not one complex.

If you searched for Char Dham Mandir Vrindavan timings, you almost certainly want the first one.

  Timing
Morning 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Evening 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Mangala Aarti About 6:15 AM
Shringar Aarti About 8:30 AM
Sandhya Aarti About 6:30 PM
Shayan Aarti About 8:45 PM
Entry Free

The practical reason to go is accessibility. The campus has wide, clean walking paths, seating throughout and level ground, which makes it one of the easiest temples in Vrindavan for elderly pilgrims and anyone using a wheelchair. For a family that cannot manage the narrow lanes around Banke Bihari, this is where I would send them.

The Sandhya Aarti at 6:30 PM is the one to attend, particularly in winter when the lighting comes on.

Rangji Temple Timings

The largest temple in Vrindavan and the only one built in South Indian Dravidian style, complete with a seven storey gopuram and a fifty foot wooden chariot parked outside the western gate.

Why does every website give you a different timing? Rangji follows the Sri Vaishnava Agama tradition, the same South Indian ritual system used at Srirangam. Darshan does not simply open in the morning and close at night. It opens in windows around each ritual: Mangala Aarti, Vishwaroop Darshan, Divya Aradhan, Bhog, and so on, with the curtain closing between them. Different websites describe different windows, and all of them look correct in isolation.

The reliable rule for a visitor:

Summer (April to August) Winter (September to March)
Morning darshan About 5:30 AM to 11:00 AM About 5:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Afternoon closure 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Evening darshan 4:00 PM to about 9:00 PM 3:00 PM to about 9:00 PM
Entry Free Free

Darshan also reopens for around fifteen minutes after each bhog, which is why patient visitors sometimes get in when the gate looks closed.

Go to Chaitra, in March or April, if you can. The Brahmotsav festival, locally called Rath ka Mela, runs for ten days and the chariot is pulled through the streets. It is the only temple in Braj where you can play Holi with the Lord himself.

ISKCON Vrindavan Timings

  Timing
Morning 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM
Evening 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Mangala Aarti 4:30 AM
Entry Free

The earliest opening in Vrindavan and the most organised temple in Braj. Wide pathways, clear queues, seating, and a kirtan that runs almost continuously.

The Mangala Aarti at 4:30 AM, in a hall that is nearly empty, is something pilgrims remember for years afterwards. Prasadam is served free but runs out well before the crowds thin.

For a first time visitor, or for an elderly pilgrim, this is the easiest temple in Vrindavan by a wide margin. It is where I start every senior citizen group.

Prem Mandir Timings and Light Show

  Timing
Morning darshan 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
Evening darshan 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Light show, summer About 7:30 PM
Light show, winter About 7:00 PM
Entry Free

The light show tracks sunset, which is why you will find both 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM quoted online and both are right, in the right season. Arrive by 7:00 PM in summer to get garden seating near the main fountain, which is the best view in the complex.

Fifty four acres of Italian white marble. The gardens are level and dotted with benches, which makes this the most wheelchair friendly place in Vrindavan alongside Char Dham. Our full Prem Mandir darshan, aarti and light show guide has the complete schedule.

The Older, Quieter Temples

These are the ones tour buses skip, and they are where Vrindavan actually feels like Vrindavan.

Temple Morning Evening Why go
Madan Mohan Temple 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM 4:00 PM onward Oldest temple in Vrindavan, 16th century, on the parikrama route
Radha Vallabh Temple 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM 5:30 PM onward Radha centred worship found nowhere else
Shahji Temple Daylight hours Daylight hours Built 1876, spiral marble columns, rarely crowded
Seva Kunj Morning Closes before dark The grove of the Raas Leela, quiet at 7:00 AM
Gopeshwar Mahadev 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Shiva as a gopi, unique in all of India
Chandrodaya Mandir 7:15 AM to 1:00 PM 4:15 PM to 8:15 PM Still under construction, will be the tallest temple on earth

Madan Mohan sits on the Vrindavan parikrama route, so pilgrims walking the circuit pass it naturally.

Raman Reti Timing, and the Mistake Everyone Makes

Thousands of people search for “Raman Reti timing” alongside Vrindavan temple timings every month, and most of them are about to make a planning error.

Raman Reti is not in Vrindavan. It is in Gokul, about 15 km from Mathura, on the other side of the river from Vrindavan.

It is the sandy expanse where the infant Krishna played, and devout pilgrims still roll in that sand. And it is worth the trip. But you cannot fit it into a Vrindavan afternoon on a whim, because it is a 45 minute drive each way from Vrindavan, and by the time you get there the ashram gates are closing.

Plan Gokul as its own half day, ideally in the morning, paired with Brahmand Ghat. It sits naturally in a two day or three day itinerary and awkwardly in a one day one. The 2 Days Mathura Vrindavan Tour at ₹3,999 per person is the shortest package where Gokul fits without rushing.

Raman Reti opens in the morning, closes for the afternoon like everything else in Braj, and shuts around dusk. Confirm the current timing with us before you go, because the ashram schedule changes and it is not well published anywhere. WhatsApp +91-7302265809.

Aarti Timings Across Vrindavan

Aarti Where When
Mangala Aarti ISKCON Vrindavan 4:30 AM
Mangala Aarti Radha Raman Temple About 4:00 AM in winter
Mangala Aarti Char Dham Temple About 6:15 AM
Shringar Darshan Radha Raman Temple 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM
Shringar Aarti Char Dham Temple About 8:30 AM
Sandhya Aarti Char Dham Temple About 6:30 PM
Yamuna Aarti Keshi Ghat About 6:30 PM
Light show Prem Mandir About 7:30 PM summer, 7:00 PM winter
Shayan Aarti Char Dham Temple About 8:45 PM

Banke Bihari has no fixed aarti timing at all, because the jhanki curtain system replaces it. That is not an omission from this table. It is a tradition.

A Vrindavan Day Built on the Clock

Time Where Why then
5:30 AM Keshi Ghat Sunrise on the Yamuna, priests at ritual, nobody else there
6:30 AM Seva Kunj or a walk through the old lanes The town before it wakes
7:45 AM Banke Bihari The gate opens. Be there when it does
9:00 AM Radha Raman Shringar Darshan, five minute walk away
10:00 AM Nidhivan Open, cool, and not yet crowded
11:30 AM ISKCON Last stop before the closures
12:30 PM Lunch and rest Everything is shut. Do not fight it
4:30 PM Char Dham or Rangji First to reopen
6:30 PM Keshi Ghat, Yamuna Aarti The lamps on the water
7:00 PM Prem Mandir Arrive before the light show

Ten stops, one day, and it works only because it is built around the closures rather than against them. This is more or less our 1 day Vrindavan itinerary.

Winter Timings, Read This Before December

This is the section I wish more people read.

Temple Summer opens Winter opens The difference
Banke Bihari 7:45 AM 8:45 AM A full hour later
Banke Bihari, evening 5:30 PM 4:30 PM A full hour earlier
Rangji, afternoon closure 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM Shorter closure in winter
Prem Mandir light show About 7:30 PM About 7:00 PM Tracks sunset
Nidhivan Closes before sunset Closes before sunset, which is earlier You lose an hour
Keshi Ghat Yamuna Aarti About 6:30 PM Earlier, with sunset Check on the day

Every timing in Braj that touches sunset moves in winter. Every article that quotes one number for the year is wrong for four months of it.

Ground Truth, What Nobody Tells You

The published time is when the gate opens, not when you get darshan. Add 15 to 20 minutes for the shoe counter at every single temple. Arrive at the opening time and you are inside half an hour later.

Banke Bihari has no Mangala Aarti. Pilgrims turn up at 5:00 AM expecting one. The temple does not open until 7:45 AM in summer, and 8:45 AM in winter. Go to ISKCON at 4:30 AM instead if you want a dawn aarti.

The red light at Radha Raman does not mean closed. It means the sanctum has shut briefly for ritual. Wait four minutes. Visitors walk away from an open temple every day because nobody told them.

Nidhivan will not bend the sunset rule for anyone. Not for a long journey, not for an elderly parent, not for a donation. Go in the morning.

Auto drivers quote tourists four times the local rate. Keshi Ghat to Banke Bihari is a ₹20 to ₹30 ride. On a weekend, visitors are quoted ₹100 to ₹150. Our groups use pre-arranged cars, so there is nothing to argue about. A Vrindavan Mathura tour by car usually costs less than a day of negotiating on the street.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Vrindavan temple timings in 2026?

Most Vrindavan temples open between 4:30 AM and 8:45 AM, close around noon, and reopen between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. ISKCON opens earliest at 4:30 AM. Banke Bihari opens at 7:45 AM in summer and 8:45 AM in winter. Radha Raman runs 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Every temple is free. Experience My India confirms the day’s timings before every tour. Call +91-7302265809.

What is the Bihari Ji Mandir timing?

Banke Bihari Temple, known locally as Bihari Ji Mandir, opens at 7:45 AM and closes at 12:00 PM in summer, reopening at 5:30 PM until 9:30 PM. In winter it opens an hour later at 8:45 AM, closes at 1:00 PM, and the evening session runs 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. There is no Mangala Aarti. Entry is free. Experience My India plans every Vrindavan morning around this gate.

What are the Radha Raman Mandir timings?

Radha Raman Mandir opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 12:30 PM, reopening at 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM. The Shringar Darshan between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM is the highlight, when priests dress the self manifested deity while devotees stand a few metres away. A green light at the entrance means darshan is open, red means a brief ritual closure. It is 300 metres from Banke Bihari. Entry is free.

What are the Nidhivan Vrindavan timings?

Nidhivan opens around 6:00 AM and closes strictly before sunset. Nobody is permitted inside after dark, and this is enforced daily by the temple authorities with no exceptions. Visit between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, when the grove is cool and quiet. Visitors who arrive after lunch routinely find the gate shut. Experience My India schedules Nidhivan in the morning block of every itinerary, never the afternoon.

What are the Char Dham Mandir Vrindavan timings?

The Char Dham Temple on Chhatikara Road opens at 6:00 AM, closes at 12:00 PM, and reopens from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Mangala Aarti is at about 6:15 AM and Sandhya Aarti at about 6:30 PM. Entry is free. The campus recreates Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri and Rameshwaram in one complex, and its wide level paths make it the easiest temple in Vrindavan for elderly pilgrims.

Is Char Dham Mandir the same as Vrindavan’s four dhams?

No, and this confuses a lot of people. The Char Dham Temple is one complex on Chhatikara Road recreating India’s four original Dhams under one roof. Separately, some websites use “Vrindavan’s four dhams” to mean four different modern temples: Shiv Dham, Shani Dham, Krishna Radha Dham and Vaishno Devi Dham. If you searched for Char Dham Mandir timings, you want the first one. Experience My India can include either. Call +91-7302265809.

Why do websites give different Rangji Temple timings?

Because Rangji follows the South Indian Sri Vaishnava Agama tradition, where darshan opens in short windows around each ritual rather than one continuous session. Different sites describe different windows and all look correct in isolation. The practical rule: morning from about 5:30 AM, afternoon closure from 11:00 AM in summer and 12:00 PM in winter, evening darshan until about 9:00 PM. Darshan also reopens for about fifteen minutes after each bhog.

What is the Raman Reti timing?

Raman Reti is in Gokul, not Vrindavan, about 15 km from Mathura and roughly 45 minutes from Vrindavan by road. This trips up a lot of visitors who try to add it to a Vrindavan afternoon. It opens in the morning, closes through the afternoon like every Braj shrine, and shuts around dusk. Plan Gokul as a separate half day. Experience My India includes it in 2 day and longer packages. Call +91-7302265809.

Do Vrindavan temple timings change in winter?

Yes, and this catches more pilgrims than anything else. Banke Bihari opens a full hour later in winter, at 8:45 AM instead of 7:45 AM, and its evening session starts at 4:30 PM instead of 5:30 PM. The Prem Mandir light show moves from about 7:30 PM to about 7:00 PM. Nidhivan closes earlier, since it tracks sunset. Always check the season, not just the temple.

Which Vrindavan temple opens earliest?

ISKCON Vrindavan, at 4:30 AM, with the Mangala Aarti beginning at the same hour. In a nearly empty hall at that time, it is the most peaceful darshan available in Vrindavan. Radha Raman’s Mangala Aarti is around 4:00 AM in winter but the temple does not open for general darshan until 8:00 AM. Banke Bihari, despite being the most famous, opens the latest of the major temples.

Are Vrindavan temples free to enter?

Yes. Banke Bihari, Prem Mandir, ISKCON, Radha Raman, Nidhivan, Char Dham, Rangji and every temple on this page are free. There is no official paid entry and no official street sold VIP darshan pass at Banke Bihari. Anyone charging you at the gate is not official. Experience My India charges for transport, hotel and guiding, never for darshan. Call +91-7302265809.

Which Vrindavan temples suit elderly pilgrims?

ISKCON, Prem Mandir and the Char Dham Temple are the three most accessible, with wide level paths, seating and organised crowd flow. Banke Bihari involves narrow lanes and heavy crowd pressure, so visit on a weekday before 8:30 AM in summer. Keshi Ghat has steps, but the Yamuna Aarti is fully visible from the platform above. Experience My India plans senior friendly itineraries around exactly this. Call +91-7302265809.

Conclusion

Vrindavan does not hide anything from you. The temples are free, the gates are open, and the aarti happens whether you are there or not.

The only thing standing between you and a good darshan is a clock. Get it right and the town gives you everything. Get it wrong and you spend your trip looking at closed doors, which is a strange way to travel a thousand kilometres.

Since 2018, Experience My India has planned this journey for more than 50,000 pilgrims, and we are rated 4.5 stars by the families who trusted us with it. Every itinerary starts with the timings on this page and works backwards.
